About Me

My name is Martin Senn and I am currently employed as a lecturer in international security at the Department of Political Science of the University of Innsbruck in Austria. In my research I am focussing on the proliferation of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, non- and counterproliferation, arms control, disarmament, missile defense, US Foreign Policy, and International Relations Theory. A list of my publications is available on my personal web-page and you may also want to take a look at my Armscontrol Blog. As for my teaching, I am particularly interested in simulations and the integration of new media.

On this picture you see my home town Wörgl, which is about 60km from Innsbruck and is located in the province of Tyrol. The region is an amazing spot for all kinds of sports!

Here is a clip with some beautiful pictures of Tyrol.

Congratulations, Martin, on geeting into the program. My cousin’s daughter, Grace Magruder, is a student of international relations at Gainesvuille and tells me the program is quite good. I know they also have a Diplomat-in-Residence from the State Dept. there, as well.

I see you’ll be in Chicago. Do you know Thomas Schnoell, who is going there this summer as the new Austrian CG?

    Alles Gute,

    Dean Yap .

  2. Martin Senn Says:

    Dear Dean,

thank you very much for your congratulations! I’m really looking forward to the program. It will be very interesting.

I haven’t met Thomas Schnöll – but being in Chicago would be a good opportunity to do so.

    best,
    Martin

    Dean -
I hope Martin will forgive me that I peeked at his blog!

I am one of the two co-directors of the Institute at UF (the other is Ido Oren). Thanks for the nice words about the program here: Gracie has been my student in 3 classes and is now writing an honors thesis with me. I think we are just as fond of her here as she is of us :) The world is, indeed, very small.

Unfortunately, Ambassador Dennis Jett, who was our Dean of International Studies, is no longer at UF. UF does not have a Diplomat-in-Residence program (we will be working on it next year – the program rotates through the universities in the region).

    All the best,
    Aida

Thank you for creating the blog for SUSI program. As the first week passed I must say it was great pleasure to join the program and to meet all the group. I have a great pleasure to meet you Martin and I think we have lots of issues we can exchange and learn. This my comment for the first week of the program I am sure I will have more comments as the program develop. Keep the good work up Martin and look forward to have nice cold beer tonight.
    All the best,
    Ali

Martin, this is an excellent blog. Thanks! I had not had time to see it until now.
As the first and second week, third week of this program has been very interesting and productive, although we are a little tired. But I am sure that South Beach will give us new energy
    Cheers!
    Maria

  6. Martin Senn Says:

    Hi Maria,
I am glad that you like it! Yeah, South Beach will be fun. I’m looking forward to it!
    See you later,
    Martin
